CMS Proposal would Simplify Medicare Coverage Rules
The CMS released a proposed rule that would simplify the Medicare enrollment and eligibility rules by revising the effective dates of coverage and allow the HHS secretary to open special enrollment periods for individuals who missed a Medicare enrollment period and meet certain conditions. Adults with MA plans save $2K annually
Older adults spend an average of almost $2,000 less per year under Medicare Advantage plans than under fee-for-service Medicare coverage, including out-of-pocket spending and premium costs, a study from the advocacy group Better Medicare Alliance found. The findings, based on data from the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey, showed average total spending hit $5,489 per Medicare beneficiary in 2019 compared with $3,524 per MA beneficiary, and particularly strong results were seen among "historically disadvantaged populations, including Black and Hispanic beneficiaries and those who are low-income." We’ve recently made some updates to our Health Risk Assessment (HRA) survey. Some of the survey questions have been changed to match other forms and questionnaires that we provide, and we’ve added the Medicare Beneficiary ID (MBI #) as required field to be completed on the form.
