More than two-thirds of Medicare beneficiaries find their insurance confusing and difficult to understand, according to a recent survey by MedicareAdvantage.com, which also revealed that many don't grasp basic insurance terminology. Read more.
Generic Statins Saved Medicare Billions
A study in JAMA Cardiology showed Medicare saved billions of dollars on prescription drugs from 2014 through 2018 as generic cholesterol-lowering drugs became more widely available, despite increased prescribing. An analysis of Part D data showed that total prescriptions for cholesterol-lowering drugs climbed from 20.5 million to 25.2 million from January 2014 through December 2018, but total spending on statins, the most popular type of cholesterol drug in the US, dropped from $4.8 billion to $2.3 billion. Aetna , a CVS Health company, announced it will ship boxes of specially curated, over-the-counter items to all its Medicare Advantage members across the country. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues and flu season begins, these Caring for You kits contain several items to help support Medicare members with simple self-care at home. Kits include a thermometer, hand sanitizer and two Aetna-branded face masks, among other items. Read more.

We've made an update to the MA/MAPD enrollment kit ordering site to help improve the log in experience and alleviate issues.
