MA Payment Cuts Will Raise Premiums, Costs
A bipartisan coalition of 13 senators warned the CMS against reducing Medicare Advantage payments as part of an effort to fund a major infrastructure package that would also expand Medicare benefits. In a letter sent to CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, the senators argued that MA payment cuts would likely drive up premiums, reduce benefits and undermine progress made in enhancing health equity and health outcomes for MA enrollees. CMS Star Ratings have been released and Centene has received a 5-Star rating on a Wellcare of California plan! Additionally, Centene saw an increase in performance for 18 plans between Rating Years (RY) 2021 and 2022. Overall, RY2022 resulted in nearly 95% of Centene MA-PD members being enrolled in a 3.5+ Star rated plan, with more than half in a 4+ Star rated plan. Read more.
