AHIP report highlights growth in Medigap enrollment
An AHIP report found that 39% of Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in Medigap coverage in December 2020, up from 35% in December 2017. Medicare beneficiaries with Medigap coverage were three times less likely to have trouble affording medical bills than beneficiaries who did not have Medigap. Read more.
MA plans partner with Papa to combat member loneliness
More than 65 Medicare Advantage plans across the US are working with Miami-based Papa to combat loneliness and social isolation by connecting senior members with so-called "Papa pals" who offer companionship and assistance with household tasks and errands. Jennifer Kivi, manager of Medicare product development at Priority Health, said the plans' members who have used the service reported reduced loneliness, and "[i]f we can reduce their loneliness, it helps members feel better and their physical health will improve."
