This email is intended for producers with Small Group business in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Highmark Small Group Portfolio of Plan Options in Southeastern Pennsylvania Moving to Highmark Senior Health Company
Why am I receiving this? We’re writing to inform you of an important update to Highmark’s small group employer coverage in Southeastern Pennsylvania for the 2025 plan year.
What do I need to know? Highmark is moving its small group portfolio of plan options from one company (named Highmark Health Insurance Company or HHIC) to another company (named Highmark Senior Health Company) upon client renewal in 2025.
What does this mean for employers? We’re mandated to send a “discontinuation notice” to clients 90 days in advance of their renewal date (see a copy of it here ). However, it’s important to note that coverage will not be terminated because of this change. Instead, clients’ current plan option(s) will be systematically mapped from the former company to the new company. A renewal will be made available to you, and a renewal letter (see a sample renewal letter here) will be mailed to client 60 days in advance of the renewal date. Benefit summaries and summaries of benefits and coverage (SBCs) will be available prior to the renewal date, and a contract will be available after the renewal date.
What does this mean for employees? Employees will receive a mandated “discontinuation notice” approximately 90 days before the renewal date (see a copy of it here). It’s important to repeat – coverage will not be terminated because of this change. Once client renewal decisions are confirmed with your Highmark Client Manager, employees will receive new ID cards in the mail.
Thank you for trusting Highmark with your clients’ health care coverage in 2024. We look forward to continuing and growing our relationship throughout 2025.
