COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing ETS
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued an emergency temporary standard (ETS) to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission in the workplace. The ETS establishes binding requirements to protect unvaccinated employees of large employers (100 or more employees from the risk of contracting COVID-19 in the workplace. Read more.
CMS Issues Emergency Regulation Implementing Vaccine Mandate for Healthcare Providers and Suppliers
Earlier this week, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services published an interim final rule establishing COVID-19 vaccine requirements for staff and others at most Medicare and Medicaid certified providers and suppliers. Impacted companies will need to promptly begin their plans to comply with the new mandate. Read more.
House Passes Bipartisan Infrastructure Package
The House of Representatives passed the INVEST in America Act on Friday. The $1 trillion infrastructure package deals with topics such as roads, bridges, public transit, passenger and freight rail, power infrastructure, and similar areas. The only provision in this package which directly relates to healthcare is a three-year moratorium on implementation of Medicare prescription drug rebate rules as a way to help pay for the package as a whole; the rules in question relate to elimination of the anti-kickback statute safe harbor protection for prescription drug rebates in the Medicare program.
