President Biden Signs Executive Order on Promoting Competition

Last week, President Biden signed a broad executive order with the stated intent of “promoting competition” in the economy. The order touched on several industries, including agriculture, Internet services, banking and healthcare. As is the case with almost all executive orders, this does not immediately enact any changes, but rather directs the pertinent agencies to focus on, and in certain cases begin rulemaking in, these areas. Ripple Effects: Potential Impacts of a National Public Option on Provider Viability and Disparities in Access to Care

A FTI report on the the National Public Option. In this brief, we sought to further examine how these financial constraints could exacerbate existing access challenges among low-income and racial and ethnic minority communities. Our analysis revealed that more than half of the hospitals observed could lose revenue under a public option, a significant portion of which serve diverse – and often vulnerable – patient populations. Highmark SEP Bonus

Check out this incentive program for new to Highmark ACA individual market enrollment with March – June effective dates. Payment will apply to total members, not contracts and will pay in July, 2021. There is no minimum requirement to be eligible and no cap to the incentive. Payout will apply to any SEP submitted with March – June effective dates. Read more. 

Geisinger Marketplace Broker Bonus 

We are pleased to announce our new bonus opportunity for Geisinger Health Plan brokers selling individual Geisinger Marketplace health plans. Brokers will receive a one-time per member  payout of $75 for first-time enrollments effective between June 1, 2021 and September 1, 2021. This bonus is in addition to the current new member payout of $20 per member per month (PMPM). Read more.
