Affordable Care Act Health Rate Filings
Insurance companies offering individual and small group health insurance plans are required to file proposed rates with the Pennsylvania Insurance Department for review and approval before plans can be sold to consumers. The Department reviews rates to ensure that the plans are priced appropriately -- that is, they are neither excessive (too high) nor inadequate (too low) -- and are not unfairly discriminatory. FDA Working to OK Pfizer, Moderna COVID Booster Shots for Certain Immunocompromised Patients
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is rapidly approaching a potential authorization for a third dose of Pfizer's and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines among certain immunocompromised patients, within the next day, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Thursday. US to Recommend Booster Jabs for All as Delta Variant Rises
United States health authorities are expected to recommend an extra dose of COVID-19 vaccine for all Americans as the Delta variant of the virus spreads quickly across the country. Health officials in US President Joe Biden’s administration will recommend that most people should get a booster shot eight months after they completed their initial vaccination, a source familiar with the decision told the Reuters news agency. Oscar Reports Big Enrollment Gains: Earnings
Oscar Health — a health insurer that went public in March — attracted more health plan members in the second quarter but also faced a big increase in costs. The New York-based company is reporting a $73 million net loss for the quarter on $529 million in revenue, compared with a net loss of $39 million on $115 million in revenue for the second quarter of 2020. Geisinger Marketplace Broker Bonus
We are pleased to announce our new bonus opportunity for Geisinger Health Plan brokers selling individual Geisinger Marketplace health plans. Brokers will receive a one-time per member payout of $75 for first-time enrollments effective between June 1, 2021 and September 1, 2021.
