Humira to be removed from drug formulary
|
|
Humira® is slated to be removed from the prescription drug formulary for ASO, fully-insured, KYP and GFA plans on Oct. 1, and from the ACA plan formulary on January 1, 2025. Several adalimumab biosimilars are available. These contain the same active ingredient as Humira and have no clinically meaningful differences.
What this means for current members:
- We’ll notify members via mail about this change. The specialty pharmacy providing their medication will work with their doctor to choose a preferred drug and provide a new prescription, if appropriate.
- Similar drugs require prior authorization. However, it’s been configured it in a way that if a member was receiving brand-name Humira, the preferred drugs will continue to be approved without a new authorization.
- Tiering will be the same as Humira.
- Comparable drugs are part of the coupon program, so members won't see any change in their cost-share for the drug.

Reminder: New ACH forms required for auto-pay for those moving from a Geisinger Funding Alternative plan
|
All groups in a Geisinger Funding Alternative (GFA) plan that flip to a new product will receive a new group number. Groups are required to submit a new ACH form to their account executive to continue ACH payments. Without a new form, auto-pay will not continue. (ACH is not required for ACA or KYP plans.)
Questions? Reach out to your account executive.

Update to GFA new business & renewal proposals helps satisfy Prescription Drug Data Collection requirements
|
The Consolidated Appropriation Act of 2021 requires insurance companies and employer-based health plans to submit information about prescription drug and healthcare spending to the Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor and Treasury. To streamline the collection process, beginning in October, new sales and renewals proposals will contain fields to report employer contributions. Before submitting, make sure to complete these fields.
This approach creates efficiencies for brokers and employer groups, ensuring timely, accurate data collection to satisfy the Prescription Drug Data Collection (RxDC) requirements. Questions? Contact your account executive.
