Quality measures for members with diabetes exceed national average
|
|
One of our top concerns: Quality care for members. Our Commercial members with diabetes consistently receive better care, exceeding the Quality Compass national averages by 5 to 13 percentage points in measures like managing blood pressure, eye exams, hemoglobin A1c control, kidney health evaluations and statin therapy.
Exceeding national averages in diabetes care quality measures is significant — for us, for our members and for our employer groups.
For members:
- Improved health outcomes – Members with diabetes are likely to have better health outcomes, including better blood pressure control and overall diabetes management. This can lead to fewer complications and a higher quality of life.
- Comprehensive care – The high-quality care includes comprehensive services such as regular monitoring, education and support from a dedicated team of healthcare professionals.
- Preventive measures – Enhanced focus on preventive care can help in early detection and management of potential health issues, reducing the risk of severe complications.
For employer groups:
- Reduced healthcare costs – Better management of diabetes can lead to lower healthcare costs due to fewer emergency visits and hospitalizations.
- Increased productivity – Healthier employees are likely to be more productive and take fewer sick days, benefiting overall workplace efficiency.
- Desirable benefits package – Offering a health plan that exceeds national quality measures can make an employer more attractive to current and potential employees.
These achievements reflect our commitment to providing high-quality care for our members — which benefits employer groups by fostering a healthier, more productive workforce.

IRS administrative management – Employer group requirements
|
As an administrative service, Geisinger submits the 1094-B and 1095-B on behalf of fully-insured and GFA clients. It’s the group’s responsibility to determine if they meet the IRS definition of applicable large employer (ALE) and what forms are required.
As required by the IRS, self-insured employers that are ALEs must use Form 1095-C and the transmittal Form 1094-C to meet reporting requirements. For details, click here.
