ICYMI: A New Chapter for Beam

We’re following up on our recent communication about the Beam Perks* program to make sure you're in the loop about the upcoming changes. 

After careful consideration, we’ve decided to end the Perks program and distribution of our smart toothbrush and other physical dental items. The Perks program will conclude May 2025. While this was not an easy choice, it reflects Beam’s commitment to focusing on initiatives that deliver greater value to you and your clients.

Here are the key reasons for this change:

  • Declining Participation: Only 4% of members¹ have enrolled in Perks, and participation has been low and is decreasing.
  • Rising Costs: The program’s rising costs have made it unsustainable in the long term.
  • Redirecting Resources: We’re shifting our focus to initiatives that better align with the evolving needs of our members and provide more meaningful value.

What this means for you and your groups:

  • Eligibility for Perks in 2025:
    • Groups with January–March 2025 effective dates will continue to have access to Perks as usual, regardless of the quote date.
    • Groups with April 2025 and later effective dates will only receive access to Perks if they were quoted before December 19, 2024.
  • Impact on Members Who Received Perks:
    • Members who have already received Perks items, such as brushes or Beam Shop purchases, can continue to use them without interruption.
    • No new Perks items will be delivered after May 2025.
  • Support for Brokers and Groups:
    • We’ve created a broker FAQ to answer common questions and help communicate with your groups. This lives in the Broker Resource Center
    • Group admins and members will receive direct updates starting this month.

Beam’s Ongoing Value:
Even as we close the Perks program, Beam remains committed to providing exceptional value to you and your clients. Here’s how:

  • Rich Dental Benefits: No waiting periods, no missing tooth clauses, implant coverage, and comprehensive coverage for preventive, basic, and major services.
  • Easy-to-Use Tools: The Beam Quoting Tool^, BeamElect**, and BeamSign make enrollment and administration seamless for brokers and groups.
  • Member Resources: The Beam app and portal help members find in-network dentists, track claims, and find detailed plan information.
  • Streamlined Processes: With consolidated billing and fast claims processing, managing benefits is simple and efficient.
  • Comprehensive Offerings: Beam is a one-stop shop for ancillary benefits, making benefits management easier.

Anticipated Questions:
Q: Will my group still get brushes or Perks in 2025?
A: Yes, if your group has a January–March 2025 effective date or was quoted before December 19, 2024 (for April and later effective dates).


Q: Is Beam replacing Perks with another program?
A: Our current priority is continuing to enhance our benefits products to make sure they offer the richest value, the best member experience, and the most seamless integration for brokers and clients. By focusing on making our products the best they can be, we’re creating solutions that deliver long-term impact and satisfaction. 


Q: Does this mean Beam is in trouble?
A: Not at all. Beam is evolving to focus on what will provide the most value for members, brokers, and groups. This change allows us to reinvest resources into strengthening our benefits and tools for an even better experience moving forward.


Q: Will Beam still offer value without Perks?
A: Absolutely! Beam’s exceptional ancillary benefits, innovative technology, and streamlined processes ensure a superior experience for brokers, groups, and members.
