Products & benefits

Heads up: Members will receive their new 2025 Aetna Medicare Extra Benefits Card soon

As you know, we've revamped the Aetna Medicare Extra Benefits Card for 2025. Read the playbook for details. Key things to know now:

  1. All renewing members with a card benefit in 2025 will get a new 2025 Extra Benefits Card in the mail soon, along with a comprehensive guidebook outlining how their 2025 benefit will work.
  2. Members’ 2024 payment card – either the Extra Benefits Card administered by NationsBenefits® or the Aetna Medicare Payment Card administered by Inspira Financial – will stop working after 12/31. They should discard their 2024 card after 12/31/24. Unused balances from the 2024 plan year will not roll over into the 2025 plan year.
  3. Members will need to activate their 2025 card before using it. If they want, they can do this before the new plan year begins. But their card benefits won’t start until 1/1/25.

Enrollment tips

Keeping you informed: CMS issues new MBIs to many beneficiaries

If your client recently received a new MBI, you must provide it on their enrollment form to ensure a smooth enrollment experience. Get details.

Reminder: Any time you want to list a PCP on an application, include the required identifiers

If your client wants to identify a primary care provider (PCP) when they enroll, please ensure you include all of the following items on the enrollment form: PCP name, provider ID and primary care ID. For CA-HMO only, you must also include the IPA name/number. And be sure to check "Yes" if your client is a current patient at the selected PCP. Learn more.

Compliance

Stay compliant: Review 2025 Star Ratings

Did you know? You're required by CMS to review the new 2025 Star Ratings with your clients. Make sure 2025 Star Ratings are included in any paper enrollment kits you share with clients. If needed, you can download 2025 star ratings pages to add to your enrollment kits.

Compliance Connection: Help ensure your clients’ doctors are in-network and their meds are covered

Remember: Patience is key to retention. See our tips for preventing two common enrollee complaints: "My doctor won't accept my insurance" and "My medications aren't covered."
