With AEP underway, we’d like to take a moment to reiterate key guidance from UPMC for Life as we approach the 2026 plan year.

UPMC for Life is prioritizing member retention for this year’s sales strategy.  As part of this approach, we are placing greater emphasis on our HMO and SNP products, while intentionally de-emphasizing select PPO plan sales. As a trusted UPMC for Life agent, you play an essential role in helping Medicare beneficiaries navigate their choices and select the best possible plan for their budget and health care needs. Your expertise and collaboration are vital to helping members make informed decisions and ensuring our mutual success this AEP.

What this means for you:

  • We encourage you to please work to limit new enrollments into UPMC for Life PPO plans during AEP.
  • Please note that UPMC for Life Salute PPO and Essential Care PPO are not subject to this limitation.
  • Our goal is to expand HMO and SNP offerings across Pennsylvania, so your support in this area is critical.
  • If a client is currently enrolled in a UPMC for Life PPO plan and satisfied, it is appropriate to maintain their coverage. We are not encouraging our PPO members to switch to HMO plans.
  • Retaining satisfied members in their current plan contributes positively to your retention metrics.
  • If a client is unhappy with their current plan, then our HMO talking points can be helpful in explaining the value of our HMO plans.
