What is Happening at Pennie:
|
Open Enrollment’s Final Deadline is Approaching – January 31st!
As a reminder, Pennie has a special deadline extension this year for 2026 coverage. January 31st is the last day consumers can enroll in a plan that starts February 1st.
Please work with consumers to ensure they are in the best plan for them and their budgets for 2026.
We are hearing some consumers may be waiting for federal action, but they should not wait. They need to enroll before the final deadline to guarantee quality coverage this year.
If there is federal action to extend the tax credits, we will provide enough time for new and existing enrollees to choose the right plan for them. But consumers should not wait for federal action to ensure they have coverage for this year.

Following Open Enrollment:
|
Remind Consumers to File their Taxes Using Tax Form 1095: If a consumer received financial savings to help lower their monthly health coverage premiums through Pennie, they must file a federal tax return and use the Tax Form 1095. Learn more at pennie.com/learn/1095aform.
-
These forms are being distributed to all Pennie enrollees in the mail and their secure inboxes.
-
Reminder: Due to federal law, there are more penalties if an enrollee’s income ends up being higher than what they estimated.
Special Enrollment Period: As a reminder, consumers can enroll in coverage outside of Open Enrollment if they have a Qualifying Life Event (QLE), which is a change in circumstance, like losing health coverage, getting married, having a baby, or moving. Consumers can enroll in a new health plan or change health plans during a Special Enrollment Period.
Path to Pennie: Path to Pennie connects uninsured Pennsylvanians with health coverage through their taxes. If a consumer missed open enrollment and needs health coverage, they can fill out Tax Form REV-1882, Health Insurance Coverage Information Request, on their Pennsylvania state income tax return. Then, Pennie will mail a letter on next steps so they can enroll in quality health coverage through Pennie. Learn more at pennie.com/pathtopennie.
