Accident coverage gains momentum
Trevor Garbers has a ringside seat on sales of voluntary accident coverage. “Accident coverage is definitely in the top three voluntary products that employers request,” says Garbers, vice president at Chicago-based insurance company HUB International. “We are seeing double-digit growth, year over year, in both our voluntary accident sales and in the industry, and that doesn't look as if it's going to stop anytime soon.” Click here to read more.
Silver plan enrollees saddled with high out-of-pocket costs
Enrollees in silver plans through the exchanges could be paying more than twice as much on prescription drugs than they would under a typical employer plan, new research finds. The report — commissioned by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America and conducted by actuarial firm Milliman — found exchange participants are paying a “far larger increase in out-of-pocket costs than was found for other medical care.” Click here to read more.
