These interactive training webinars are stand-alone events covering Medicare basics. You can attend one or both days, and space is limited. You can’t earn CEUs for these webinars.

Topics for each day

Day 1—Medicare enrollment and eligibility; SSA and CMS roles and responsibilities; cost and coverage under Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance); why enrolling on time is important; and an overview of Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policies.

There are 2 yearly Medicare enrollment periods from January 1–March 31.

  • The Medicare General Enrollment Period is for those who missed their Initial Enrollment Period and want to enroll in Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and/or Part B (Medical Insurance). 
  • The Medicare Advantage (MA) Open Enrollment Period is for those already enrolled in Medicare Advantage who want to switch to a different plan or to go back to Original Medicare.

January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month. Medicare covers a glaucoma test once every 12 months for people at high risk for glaucoma. All people with Part B who are at high risk for glaucoma are covered. Visit Medicare.gov/coverage/glaucoma-tests.html for more information.

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month. Medicare covers Pap tests and pelvic exams that can help find cervical and vaginal cancer early and improve recovery and survival rates.
