Health Plan Options

We have successfully updated the Pennie platform with various enhancements that will benefit the Customer experience.

See below for the list of enhancements to the Pennie platform:

1. Automatic eligibility for applications sent to Pennie that originated from Medicaid/CHIP

Previously, when Pennie would receive an application transfer from Medicaid/CHIP, Pennie would create a draft application and the customer would be required to click through the pre-populated application, sign, and submit in order to receive an eligibility determination.

Starting 7/1/2022, when Pennie receives an account transfer from Medicaid/CHIP, Pennie will automatically submit the eligibility application on behalf of the customer so the customer will immediately receive an eligibility determination notice. Customers will then simply need to report a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) and shop for a plan to complete their enrollment.

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services has also fixed an issue where certain types of income were not being included on the applications that were transferred to Pennie. This fix will ensure that Pennie has complete income information when making eligibility determinations based on the applications received from Medicaid/CHIP.

2. Low Income Special Enrollment Period (SEP) automatically applied to current customers with household income at or below the 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

Previously, Low Income SEP automatically granted for customers new to Pennie or who submitted a new eligibility application

Starting 7/1/2022, current customers with household income <=150% FPL will automatically be eligible for an SEP by clicking the banner message on the customer’s dashboard.

Eligible customers can make up to one plan change per month.

3. Allow Pennie representatives to quickly resend account activation emails for Assisters who have not yet claimed their account.

Previously, resending account activation emails for new assister accounts took a couple of steps.  This enhancement eliminates those extra steps and will allow us to be able to immediately help new assisters access their accounts.

4. Allow Pennie to publish announcements to assister and broker dashboards.  This additional communication channel will allow more ways to help communicate key information to assister and broker communities.

We hope these enhancements improve the Pennie portal experience for you. As always, thanks for helping us in our mission to providemore Pennsylvanians affordable health coverage!
