Health Plan Options

We have successfully updated the Pennie platform with various enhancements that will benefit the experience of our customers and stakeholders.

See below for the list of enhancements to the Pennie platform:

Customer Enhancements:

- Renewals: There are a variety of new enhancements coming to the annual renewal process that enable Pennie to automatically renew more customers. Customers will receive their renewal notices at the end of October, right before Open Enrollment begins on November 1st.

- New Communication Options: Customers can opt into receiving important updates about their Pennie coverage through text messages or automatic calls.

- Organ Donor and Voter Registration available right from your Pennie application. Registration is completely voluntary and has no impact on your eligibility for financial assistance. Organ and Tissue Donation Registration is provided in collaboration with Donate Life Pennsylvania. Voter Registration is provided through the Pennsylvania Department of State.

- Updated Password Rules: Next time you update your password, you’ll see new password rules. Privacy and security of your information is important to Pennie, so we are regularly reviewing our systems to ensure your information is protected to the highest standards.

Assister & Broker Enhancements:

- New Broker Ability to Designate to Existing Customers: Before creating a new customer household on Pennie, brokers will be able to search to see if that customer already is part of a household on Pennie and then designate themselves to the existing customer household, instead of creating a new household. The “Add new individual” link on your broker portal will now be “Search Existing Customers.”

  • Please Note: Before a broker can designate themselves to an existing customer, brokers must provide documentation verifying the customer’s identity and attest to permission from the customer to be designated as their broker. Customers will receive notice when a broker has been designated to their account and instructed to call Pennie Customer Service if they think a designation was made in error. For more information on this new broker portal functionality, see September 2022 Community Partner Workgroup.

- Updated Password Rules for Assisters and Brokers: Next time you update your password, you’ll see new password rules. Assister and Broker passwords will now be required to have a minimum of 15 characters that contains one upper-case letter, one lower-case letter, one number, and one special character. Privacy and security of customer information is important to Pennie, and compliance with privacy and security rules is a requirement for all Pennie-certified assisters and brokers.

We hope these enhancements improve the Pennie portal experience for you. As always, thanks for helping us in our mission to provide more Pennsylvanians affordable health coverage!
