We recognize there are many questions emerging in the wake of last week’s U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. We are working diligently to provide trusted, thoughtful information to business leaders. One of the most common questions we have received is about travel assistance benefits for members who live in states where abortion and reproductive health services are, or will become, restricted.
Capital Blue Cross will be able to administer travel benefits for groups that add them to their benefit design. While we are committed to providing employers and members with healthcare coverage that meets their needs, the court’s decision is a complex issue that we must thoroughly review in light of the various state laws that will affect our members differently depending on where they live. We will provide more details shortly and look forward to working closely with our customers to set up and administer travel benefits.
Please note that Capital cannot provide legal advice to our customers, and groups retain full responsibility for ensuring that their group plan, including its benefit design, complies with all applicable laws.
