- HHS extended the
public health emergency by an additional 90 days, setting a new expiration date
of July 15. This impacts several areas, including coverage of COVID-19 testing
and treatment, as well as the “Medicaid unwinding” period.
- The U.S. Court of
Appeals for the Fifth Circuit reinstated the Biden administration’s COVID-19
vaccine mandate for federal workers, but the ruling is not effective
immediately.
- Last year, CMS
Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure announced that the agency would craft a
“strategic plan” focused on improving health equity, expanding coverage and
improving health outcomes. This week, CMS released a list of “cross-cutting initiatives” (CCIs) to carry out the strategic plan.
