Aetna Medicare members with Medicaid who are not enrolled in a D-SNP plan may receive bills from their Aetna HMO or PPO provider when they don't show their Medicaid card.

How you can help
If your Medicaid enrollee doesn't have the option of enrolling in a D-SNP plan and chooses an HMO or PPO plan, remind them of the importance of their Medicaid card. They should present both their Aetna and Medicaid cards to their providers, including pharmacies.
Often enrollees don’t understand that, depending upon their eligibility level, their State Medicaid program may cover their cost share or other expenses that are not covered by their Aetna HMO or PPO plan. This is called Medicare cost share protection. Presenting their Medicaid card will help ensure your enrollees receive all the coverage they are entitled to.
