We have successfully updated the Pennie platform with various enhancements that will benefit the experience of customers and the assisters & brokers supporting them.
See below for the list of enhancements we are releasing later this week to the Pennie platform:
New Qualifying Life Events (QLEs) available for customers to report on their eligibility application:
Survivors of Domestic Violence, Abuse, or Spousal Abandonment
Newly Eligible for Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) – allows a customer to enroll when they become newly eligible for an ICHRA or QSEHRA.
New SEP for customers enrolled in a catastrophic plan who become newly-eligible for APTC mid-year
Change coverage start date rules for those Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs) previously operating under the 15th of the month rule to 1st of the month following plan selection.
This change applies to all SEPs that previously followed the 15th of the month effective date rule, such as change in eligibility for financial assistance, gain of an eligible immigration status, survivor of domestic abuse, American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN).
Anonymous shopping (aka Browse for Plans) will default to a coverage start date that follows the 1st of the month rule based on the current date, after the current open enrollment period closes.
Previously, default coverage start date for anonymous shopping followed the 15th of the month rule which is now only applicable during open enrollment.
Improved handling of DMIs for customers without an SSN
This will eliminate occurrences where customers without an SSN had incorrectly received SSN, Incarceration, and Death DMIs simply for leaving the SSN field blank
Allow out of state address for primary accountholder who is only enrolling PA-resident family members
Enables primary member of household to provide an out of state address when not applying for coverage. For example, a non-PA resident parent applying for coverage for a PA-resident child
Add a notification pop-up if a user attempts to navigate away from the page without saving
Ensures customer’s application progress is saved.
Add help text to 1095-A delivery method question
Text has been added to notify recipients of the importance of a 1095-A when filing their federal tax return.
Customers can make an independent election to receive their 1095-A electronically or via mail, without changing how they receive their regular Pennie notices.
We hope these enhancements improve the Pennie portal experience for you. As always, thanks for helping us in our mission to provide more Pennsylvanians affordable health coverage!
