NEW Requirement

Notification of information on the safe disposal of prescription medication for in-home Health Assessments

As of Jan. 1, 2022, agents are required to provide consumers with information on how to safely dispose of prescription medication when completing an in-home Health Assessment. Keeping old medication in the home can be unsafe and can lead to misuse or being taken accidentally. Unused or expired medication should be disposed of as soon as possible. These regulations are designed to improve safety and reduce issues related to unused prescription medication.

What this means for you

  1. A form with information on the safe disposal of prescription medication;*
  2. Minimum of two local community take-back sites included on the form; and
  3. A verbal summary of the information on the form.
