Now available: 2022 group size certification form

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires health insurance carriers to follow regulations based on employer group size. That’s why you’re required to report your 2021 average number of employees to us.

If an employer is part of a “controlled group” of affiliated companies (determined under IRS rules based upon ownership percentages), then the entire group is treated as a single employer and the employee counts for each company in the group are combined to determine group size. In other words, when an employer’s controlled group contains companies with different tax IDs, the employee counts from all of the companies are totaled to determine whether they are a small or large employer.

Many businesses have partially or fully reduced their workforce in response to the closure, leading to questions around employer group health coverage for out-of-work employees.

GFA reporting updates in 2022

In early 2022, there will be different levels of access to GFA reporting in a portal format:

GFA groups with less than 100 subscribers will have access to their monthly aggregate report and KPI report through a MedInsight web portal.
GFA groups with 100 or more subscribers will have access to the same MedInsight Limited Site as large group fully-insured 100+ groups. This is in addition to access to the portal where the monthly aggregate report will be stored.

Both broker and groups contacts can have access.

Note: To prepare for this rollout, review the attached user access form, get signatures and email it back to your account executive.

Things to keep in mind when filling out the form:

Brokers:

We only need one form per agency with one exception. If multiple brokers at an agency would like access, submit unique forms for each user.

Brokers do not need to complete an access form for each client since we have nondisclosure agreements on file already.
Brokers and consultants will select only the “Broker/consultant” checkbox. Also check “add new user.”
Broker will fill out form exclusively with the broker information.

Employer groups:

We need one form per group for group contacts that will have access.

Group contacts will select the “GFA employer group” box that corresponds with their enrolled size.
Group contacts will also select the box “Add new security admin (one per organization).” Each additional group user will select add new user access.
Group contacts will fill this out exclusively with just the group information, not the broker.

Remember, if you already sent this form back to us, you don’t need to do anything else.

Fast facts:

The U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Louisiana and the Western District of Missouri issued nationwide injunctions on the CMS vaccine mandate for healthcare workers earlier this week.
The IRS published proposed regulations that introduce significant changes to the ACA reporting process for both large and small employers. These changes specifically impact the Form 1095-B and Form 1095-C distribution deadline and good-faith transition relief.
Under threat of government shutdown, both the House and Senate successfully passed a continuing budget resolution that keeps the government funded until Feb. 18. Had Congress not passed this resolution, the government would have shut down at midnight this evening.
