Capital BlueCross Virtual Care billing
On May 1, Amwell Medical Group (AMG) began sending comprehensive billing statements to patients where there was a balance of patient responsibility. The statement looks like those received following in-person care and includes:
Account adjustments
Insurance payments
Insurance adjustments
Patient payments
Total charges
This summary is an easy-to-understand breakdown of the costs associated with their visit, including any outstanding balances.
Patients can choose to receive paperless e-statements and make payments through the Amwell online payment portal.
In the event of an adjudicated insurance claim or overdue payment, AMG contacts the patient to explain the charges and makes arrangements to collect the amount due.

MyCare Finder tips
MyCare Finder brings the provider directory, treatment and episode cost estimates, and provider ratings and reviews all together in one intuitive experience to help members find quality providers and options to save money.
To start searching, members log in to their secure account then choose Find > Doctors.
To find a provider that provides telehealth services, select the telehealth shortcut. The first three providers in the results are on-demand providers. If members wish to see additional on-demand providers, they can click on the “Show all providers with no office location.” This is because of all providers with telehealth services, only those with a phone number are on-demand providers. Below the on-demand providers are providers providing Telehealth Services located within the member’s search radius. The member can apply additional filters to this search such as specialty, Office Visit Plus, etc.
MyCare Finder defaults to medical provider searches. If a member is looking for a pharmacy, dentist, or vision provider, they need to click Menu in the top right corner of the main page, select Plan name, Find a different plan, Browse a list of plans, and select their pharmacy, dental, or vision network to search.
More than just a reminder to floss
When you choose BlueCross Dental, you choose more than dental benefits — you choose extensive, cost-effective networks, convenient plan administration, and exceptional service from a name trusted for over 80 years.
Most importantly, our expansive dental networks give members both choice and accessibility when it comes to dental care.
Local or across the country, our dental networks can compete with the best of them:
One of the largest national dental PPO networks, with over 486,000 participating dentist listings across all 50 states
One of the largest regional Select* dental networks, with over 6,000 participating dentist listings
97% of BlueCross Dental members have access to two general dentist providers within ten miles
When groups provide coverage through BlueCross Dental, they make a smart financial decision for themselves and a smart investment in their employees’ health.
To learn more about BlueCross Dental, contact your account executive.
*Dental Select plans require the selection of a primary care dentist (PCD) from the BlueCross Dental Select network. The PCD provides routine care and arranges or provides most other medically necessary services. Except for emergency services, benefits are covered only when provided or properly referred by the PCD, preauthorized by Capital BlueCross, or as stated within the dental policy.
Capital BlueCross Virtual Care and teledentistry visits cost waiver has been extended
Capital BlueCross is extending the member cost-share waiver for teledentistry and Virtual Care visits through December 2021. The cost share waivers are only good for those who have BlueCross Dental coverage and those who are eligible users of Capital BlueCross Virtual Care. A reminder that for Large and Major Market ASO employers, the Capital BlueCross Virtual Care waiver only applies for those groups who have opted to offer the waiver to its employees. If you have clients in these segments that would like to start waiving member cost share, please contact your Capital BlueCross account executive.
It's mental health awareness month — there's a toolkit for that
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so remind your employer groups about our great behavioral health communication toolkit. It's packed with great resources to help employees while giving business leaders resources to eliminate stigma in the workplace. In the wake of a pandemic, it is especially handy to have the toolkit close by.
New resources are added periodically.
