2021 Compliance Communication

 

Indy Medicare Part D Health Plan Termination

Indy Health Insurance Company, a stand-alone Part D plan in Arkansas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Illinois, and Georgia has been terminated. CMS has temporarily enrolled impacted individuals into Medicare’s Part D LI-NET program administered by Humana as of March 1, 2021 to ensure continuation of drug coverage.  CMS is offering a Special Election Period (SEP) to Indy Health Medicare Part D members to disenroll from their new plan and enroll into a different plan. 

This plan termination SEP is valid now through July 31, 2021.  The effective date for the new health plan coverage will be the first day of the month following the date the plan receives the enrollment request.  This is a one-time use SEP only.  Once the individual uses this plan termination SEP, it is no longer available to them.  Individuals may use this SEP to elect an MAPD or PDP only plan.

What Does This Mean to Agents

 

Should you be contacted by a former Indy Health plan member, follow our normal compliant sales process:

 

·       Secure a Scope of Appointment prior to a sales meeting. 

·       During the appointment, attempt to verify that the beneficiary qualifies for this SEP by asking the beneficiary to attest that they were an Indy Health Part D plan member. Agents should make every effort to verify that the beneficiary qualifies for this SEP, but do not have to collect proof from the beneficiary.

·       On the MA/MAPD/PDP application, agents should use SEP-DIF for electronic enrollments, and S/OTH for paper enrollments and write “Indy” in the comments.

 

Enrollments made pursuant to this SEP are effective the first of the month following the receipt of the enrollment request.  If individuals have specific questions about the plan’s closure, any premium questions, outstanding claim issues, etc. please advise the caller to contact Indy Health SHPS or CMS directly.        

 

NOTE: Please refrain from making any negative or derogatory statements about Indy Health Insurance Company or attempt to answer any questions as to the nature of the plan termination.
