*This email is intended for producers in Pennsylvania NO ACTION REQUIRED: CLIENTS BEING NOTIFIED OF PLHIGA Recent legislative changes require that Highmark group policyholders be informed of the protections afforded them through the Pennsylvania Life and Health Insurance Guarantee Association (PLHIGA). Specifically, the Pennsylvania law which established the PLHIGA in order to provide protection in the unlikely event that a health insurance company is unable to meet its financial obligations was recently amended to apply to HMOs and other regulated insurers such as Highmark.
Clients will be made aware of this added protection by way of this notification, which advises policy holders to contact their member insurer or agent with questions. As a producer you do not need to take any action, but we did want to alert you in case clients do reach out. |
