COVID-19 member cost share waivers are extended
We are extending our member cost share waivers for COVID-19 testing and associated office visits through April 21. This includes inpatient treatment of COVID-19 when it has been determined to be medically necessary and consistent with CDC guidance.
Our decision aligns with the Department of Health and Human Services extension of the public health emergency.
Visit our COVID-19 resource page to learn how Capital BlueCross is responding to the pandemic.
Reminder about tax year 2020 PPACA reporting for covered members
Health insurance companies and certain employers are required to provide information to members and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) confirming members have minimum essential coverage (MEC).
ASO Customers — Mid-Market and Large Group As a courtesy to our Mid-Market and Large Group ASO customers, Capital BlueCross will provide a list of subscribers and their respective covered dependents, for whom each ASO customer provides MEC.
We will distribute the membership and coverage spreadsheet to Group Administrators for any new Mid-Market and Large Group ASO customer that enrolled in December 2020 no later than January 22, 2021.
Producers can request a copy by contacting Producer Support for groups with under 100 lives, and by contacting the account executive for larger groups.
Fully-Insured and Small Group ASO Member Mailing of 1095-B Forms Capital BlueCross will mail the required 1095-B tax document no later than January 31, 2021 to the following:
All fully-insured group subscribers
Off-exchange Individual subscribers
On-exchange catastrophic subscribers
PersonalBlue subscribers
Small Group ASO subscribers (groups with 49 or fewer employees)
We will also send this information to the IRS to confirm MEC during the 2020 tax year.
1095-B forms are issued to subscribers. Groups do not receive a report or copies of the forms issued to their employees.
Subscribers may obtain a duplicate or replacement 1095-B by logging into their secure account and visiting the tax forms section under Manage My Information. Members can view and/or print their information from there. They can also call Member Services at the number provided on the back of their member ID card.
Requests for updates or corrections to a 1095-B form should be directed to the employer. The group is responsible for providing Capital BlueCross with updated information no later than March 1, 2021. Off-market Individual subscribers must submit an updated enrollment application no later than March 1, 2021.
Groups or individuals should contact their tax professional with any tax-related questions.
Use the current version of the Application for Group Benefits
Starting with a March 1, 2021 effective date, the most current version of the Application for Group Benefits is required. This interactive application can always be found in the Salesforce Partner Community forms library. To verify that you are using the correct version, look for the GpBenefitsAppV.4 in the lower left corner of the first page.
Submissions that include older versions will need to be resubmitted with the updated version, which may delay processing.
The YES tool has been updated with the correct version.
This requirement applies to all new business and group benefit changes.
