Helpful Information for a Successful AEP

In recent weeks we've shared quite a few resources and insights to help prepare you for a fruitful Annual Enrollment Period. But we know how inboxes can get, so we'd like to remind you of a few things as we push toward October 15. Keep an eye out for more every week!

Medigap Blue Promotional Period, Now Through December 31st

Once again Highmark is extending a unique opportunity for your Pennsylvania clients currently enrolled in a non-Highmark Medicare Supplement plan, who may be interested in Whole Health Balance but don’t want to risk losing their preferred rate status by switching, to enroll in a Highmark Medigap Blue plan!

In order to qualify:

  • Enrollment must be:
    • Same letter plan* (e.g. Plan G to Plan G)
    • Rate to rate (e.g. Preferred/ Non-tobacco to Preferred)
    • For an effective date of January 1, 2021
  • Applicants must purchase Whole Health Balance**
  • Enrollees must have first obtained Medicare Supplement coverage when they were 65 years of age or older
  • Applications must be completed in their entirety (e.g. all medical underwriting questions must be answered)

For a one page overview of this promotion click here.

The applications reflect transparent underwriting requirements for those clients not eligible for this promotional opportunity who would like to apply through the traditional underwriting process. Therefore, due to this limited promotional period, there are no unique fields on the application indicating this opportunity. All applications received after December 31, 2020 will be processed through normal underwriting procedures.

The electronic submission process will be available on the Producer Portal beginning October 15th. In the meantime, those agents wishing to take immediate advantage of this opportunity may submit the updated paper applications.

This promotional opportunity is eligible for the underwritten commission level. Please contact your agency regarding specific commission information.

*Highmark does not currently offer plans K, L, and M. If your client is currently enrolled in one of these plans, they may apply for Plan N to still qualify.
**Members must be enrolled in Whole Health Balance for a minimum of six months.

  • To view and download Highmark's Scope of Sales Appointment Confirmation Form, click here.
  • For a fillable PDF version of the SOA form, click here.

Application Submission Reminders

  • Applications may be submitted online through the Producer Portal, or via fax at 1-888-663-0258.
  • Please note that you should only submit an application through one channel. Please do not submit an application online and also fax it. This will cause delays in processing.
  • If you submit an application online through the Portal, you can confirm the status by selecting "Check Application Status" once logged in. Alternately, if you fax an application, visit medicare.highmark.com and select "Check Application Status" at the bottom of the web page.
  • We strongly suggest that you submit applications through the Producer Portal instead of faxing applications. We have limited resources in the office this year, and we may see processing delays of faxed applications.
