Thanks for joining our first broker summit!
We hope you enjoyed hearing from our leadership yesterday morning about making healthcare better, trends from GHP and group health and wellness initiatives. We’re always seeking new ways to bring you the latest from our team, and we’re going to make it a habit with two more upcoming summits.

Keep an eye out for invitations for our upcoming broker summits on Thursday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Nov. 12, where we’ll be sharing the latest in product updates, changes in our political landscape and much more.

Didn’t get a chance to join us yesterday for the first summit? Don’t sweat it. Watch the broadcast recording on YouTube to hear from Michelle Folk (broker manager), Dr. Jaewon Ryu (Geisinger President and CEO), Kurt Wrobel (Geisinger Health Plan CEO) and Allison Hess (Geisinger VP of Health and Wellness).
Select creditable/non-creditable coverage letters discontinued
The Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) requires employers (whose policies include prescription drug coverage) to notify Medicare-eligible policyholders whether their prescription drug coverage is considered creditable coverage. This notice provides important information regarding the prescription benefit currently provided as compared to the benefit available under Medicare Part D. In the past, we’ve notified employers of this information with a letter.

We are no longer issuing creditable/non-creditable coverage letters for ACA small groups and fully insured large groups. This content will now be available on their renewal letter and/or CSA, and brokers may also reference the broker handbook for creditable/non-creditable coverage related to ACA small groups. However, we will still be issuing a letter to fully insured KYP groups, Geisinger Funding Alternative (GFA) groups, self-funded groups and individual members.

It is the employer’s responsibility to notify Medicare-eligible employees of the notice and their creditable/non-creditable status.
Get a flu shot near you
Getting a flu shot is always a good idea. But this year, with the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s even more important. Why? Because you want to protect yourself from having the flu virus (influenza) and the coronavirus at the same time.

Having the flu isn’t fun, but most people recover in a few days. But, like COVID-19, the flu can be fatal for some. Even if you aren’t worried about yourself, getting a flu shot can keep you from spreading it to others who are at high risk (like those under age 2 or over age 65).

So, protect yourself (and your family) by getting the flu shot at a Geisinger location near you — it’ll be one less contagious illness to worry about this flu season. Flu shots are free of charge to Geisinger Health Plan members. Want to schedule an appointment, visit a drive-thru flu shot clinic, or visit a facility without an appointment?
