Geisinger names Mark McCullough chief financial officer of Geisinger Health Plan
Mark McCullough has been named chief financial officer and chief operations officer for Geisinger Health Plan (GHP).

McCullough previously worked at Humana Pharmacy Solutions as vice president/chief financial officer and also served as chief operations officer and interim president.

“We are excited to welcome Mark to the Geisinger team,” said Kurt Wrobel, GHP president. “With more than 25 years of experience in the pharmacy, managed care and healthcare industries, Mark will have an integral role in leading GHP’s successful financial and operational outcomes as we continue making affordable, quality healthcare available to everyone in the communities we serve.”

At Humana, McCullough was responsible for finance and operations for Humana’s pharmacy benefit manager, which manages $27 billion in gross claims annually for 10 million Humana members.

He also oversaw Humana’s mail-order operations, dispensing 42 million prescriptions annually.

Before his tenure at Humana, McCollough worked for Kindred Pharmacy Services/Pharmerica Corp., Catholic Health Initiatives, D&R PharmaCare, Caretenders Health Corp. and Ernst & Young. He is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Louisville.
New member ID cards are coming
Geisinger Health Plan members will be receiving new health plan ID cards before January 1, 2021. Their member ID number will remain the same, but they’ll need to use their new card starting January 1, 2021.

One of the changes to the ID cards is that Geisinger’s pharmacy claims will be processed by PerformRx starting January 1, 2021. We’re making this change to improve member’s access to quality, affordable prescription medications and lower overall healthcare costs.  Members should present their new ID cards at the pharmacy for prescriptions filled after January 1.

Members will be receiving a letter communicating this information. You can review a sample of the member letter language below:

We are committed to delivering quality in health coverage and excellent service.

Enclosed is your new identification card. This card should be used beginning January 1, 2021. Please discard any other cards at that time.

Please verify that the information on the card is correct. If you have any changes or questions, please call the Customer Care number listed on the back of the card.

Remember to carry your card with you and present it whenever you receive health care services. Visit GeisingerHealthPlan.com and register to take advantage of more great resources only for members. You can set your communication preferences, learn about your benefits and coverage, access local discounts and more.

We look forward to serving the health care needs of your family. If you have questions, please contact the customer care team. We’ll be happy to help.
Sincerely,

Customer Care Team

Happy Retirement, Billy O!
After 20 years of dedicated service, Bill Ostroski will be retiring from Geisinger Health Plan on Friday, Oct. 3. He has been an integral member of our leadership team for many years after many years of success in sales and management in the food services industry. He originally served Geisinger as a small business representative/account executive service specialist, and his hard work and dedication led to numerous promotions including account executive, eastern region sales manager, senior regional sales manager, director of sales retention, and senior director for sales client services.

Bill has brought so much passion, diligence and fun to GHP, and it’s no surprise that this will be a bittersweet goodbye. While we will miss him very much – and we know you will too – we’re excited to see him off on a new, exciting adventure. Happy Retirement, Billy!

Are you a licensed Geisinger Gold broker? Get to know this year’s offerings.
Each week in our Geisinger Gold broker bulletin, we’re highlighting a series of plan offerings so you can get familiar with what’s new, what’s changed and more. Visit the links below to review what we’ve shared so far:
Fast Facts
  • H.R. 2564, the Medicare Enrollment Protection Act, passed out of committee this week, meaning it is now eligible to be voted on by the House. The bill creates a special Medicare enrollment period for individuals enrolled in or transitioning out of continuation coverage under COBRA.
  • In their first week back from recess, Senate Republicans introduced another, “skinnier” coronavirus response bill that was promptly blocked, falling short of the 60 votes needed to pass the Senate. Will Congress be able to pass bipartisan legislation prior to the presidential election?
  • While we were busy worrying about all things pandemic, earlier this summer the Supreme Court issued a major employment law decision, Bostock v. Clayton County, that will impact employee benefit plans nationwide.
This week’s fast facts are brought to you by the National Association of Healthcare Underwriters (NAHU).
