Fast Facts

  • President Trump signed four executive orders last Friday, instructing federal agencies to implement several sweeping policy changes that the Administration has been reviewing for a long while, including the regulation of PBMs, importing prescription drugs from abroad, tying Medicare Part B prices to prices paid in other countries, and discounts on insulin.
  • Senate Republicans unveiled the Health, Economic Assistance, Liability Protection and Schools Act (HEALS Act) earlier this week. The stakes for Congress to get another major package through before leaving for the August recess are high as coronavirus cases continue to rise nationwide. Will Congress agree on a package before heading home?
  • NAHU submitted comments to the Department of Labor regarding the agency’s draft of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) self-compliance tool. The government’s goal with this proposed tool is to help group health plans, plan sponsors, plan administrators, group and individual market health insurance issuers, state regulators and other parties determine whether a group health plan or health insurance issuer complies with the MHPAEA.
  • Now is the time to get on the calendars of your representatives and senators to talk with them about our legislative priorities. The annual Congressional summer recess is a prime time for NAHU members to meet with their federal legislators and help guide the next wave of healthcare-reform legislation. Please submit any follow-up info from your in-district meetings here.
  • Surprise billing, a practice that NAHU has long fought to put an end to, is now exasperated due to COVID-19. Take action today and urge your members of Congress to support legislation with a fair-market-based solution!
