As our country and many of our communities begin to self-isolate to prevent the spread of COVID-19, there is no better time than now to expand access to care, and help our members get medical attention when they need it.
From March 13 to April 15, Capital BlueCross will offer eligible members free medical Virtual Care visits. This decision includes all fully insured and ASO groups. Capital BlueCross will be absorbing the costs associated with ASO members. To be clear, ASO groups will not assume the costs associated with their members’ Virtual Care visits. The free Virtual Care visits apply to medical visits only. Counseling, psychiatry and nutrition visits will incur the normal visit fees.
Using Virtual Care can help members avoid the risk of coming into contact with others who might have the virus or any other illness, and help limit its spread. Virtual Care is also often faster and easier than scheduling an in-office appointment. If a Virtual Care doctor determines a member might be at risk, the doctor can provide guidance on the best way to access in-person care that limits exposing others to illness.
We soon will email news about the free Virtual Care medical services to members who have the service included in their benefit plan. If you have a client who does not have Virtual Care in their plan, reach out to your Account Executive to add it.
