We felt the love on Saturday! This year marked the 4th year that we have partnered with the Philadelphia Zoo to provide a back-to-school event for the community. Roughly 2,500 people gathered on Zoological Drive Saturday evening before flooding through the zoo’s gates. Attendees had a night filled with fun, education and community as they checked out animal exhibits and picked up complimentary school supplies. Health Partners Plans (HPP) updated its corporate marketing name to Jefferson Health Plans. The new corporate marketing name was effective on July 1, 2023, the rebrand will take a phased approach, and the process will be ongoing through 2025. The Jefferson Health Plans team has been hard at work to prepare for Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) and ACA’s Open Enrollment Period (OEP), both of which begin in the fall. Last week, the Sales and leadership teams hosted their first 2024 AEP kick-off event at Parx Casino and debuted our new Jefferson Health Plans branded marketing collateral and spotlighted our enhanced benefits to our sales broker partners.

As Men’s Health Month comes to a close, we turn our attention to Dr. Sanjay Dabral, HPP’s Medical Affairs Director: “Men frequently disregard their mental health, which is usually impacted by difficulties and social pressures. We must understand that seeking support for mental health issues is a positive step toward improving our overall health, not a sign of weakness. Depression, anxiety, stress, and substance abuse can affect our mental health and early intervention is the key for success. Healthy self-care practices, open conversations and seeking professional help early can significantly improve men’s mental health, leading to an overall healthier life. Remember that seeking professional help is a sign of strength and no man should face these challenges alone.”

As we near the end of Men's Health Month, Todd Harrison, HPP’s Manager of Community Education, shares his thoughts on men's mental health: “According to Mental Health America, male depression often goes undiagnosed, as men are more likely to report fatigue, irritability, loss of interest in work or hobbies, rather than feelings of sadness or worthlessness. Mental health and mental balance is critical in leading a healthy life.”

Dr. Liss, HPP’s VP Chief Medical Office & Clinical Provider Management, shares some tips and resources for men during men’s health month: “Men’s Health Month is a good reminder to make sure you are up to date on the preventive services that keep you healthy, so you’ll be there for your loved ones. Depending on your age, family history and lifestyle, there are screenings, vaccinations, and actions you can take. The U.S Preventive Health Services Task Force, is the best resource to check for preventive care. It only takes a couple of minute…..do it for yourself and your family!”

As we kick off #MensHealthMonth, Jorge Parra, HPP’s Director of Health & Wellness Programs, shares why this month is important to him: “Men’s health is such an important aspect that many men overlook. As a person who enjoys being active, it’s very important to take control of our health so that we can continue to enjoy the things that we love to do for many years to come. That means getting our annual checkups, making sure we are in contact with our primary care doctors, and doing the small things like being active and incorporating healthy eating habits. A healthy lifestyle starts with us.”
