MACRA Changes:
As you may already know, MACRA
prohibits the sale of the Medicare Supplement policies that
cover Part-B deductibles to "newly eligible"
Medicare beneficiaries defined
as those individuals who: (a) have attained age 65 on or
after January 1, 2020 or (b) first become eligible for Medicare
due to age, disability, or end-stage renal disease, on or
after January 1, 2020.
Health plans must establish controls to maintain compliance
and prohibit enrollment of newly eligible individuals in
Medigap Plans C and F covering Medicare Part-B deductibles.
Therefore, when you enroll an eligible member in Plans C, F,
or F-HD on the Producer Portal, you will be prompted to
provide their age and Part-A effective date (if the member is
under the age of 65). As long as the member's Part-A
effective date is prior to 1/1/2020, they will be eligible to
enroll in one of the above-noted plans.
