AEP UPDATE

MACRA Changes:

As you may already know, MACRA prohibits the sale of the Medicare Supplement policies that cover Part-B deductibles to "newly eligible" Medicare beneficiaries defined as those individuals who: (a) have attained age 65 on or after January 1, 2020 or (b) first become eligible for Medicare due to age, disability, or end-stage renal disease, on or after January 1, 2020.

Health plans must establish controls to maintain compliance and prohibit enrollment of newly eligible individuals in Medigap Plans C and F covering Medicare Part-B deductibles. Therefore, when you enroll an eligible member in Plans C, F, or F-HD on the Producer Portal, you will be prompted to provide their age and Part-A effective date (if the member is under the age of 65). As long as the member's Part-A effective date is prior to 1/1/2020, they will be eligible to enroll in one of the above-noted plans.

Online Enrollments:

If you're enrolling any New to Medicare members from now through October 14 on the Producer Portal, the online enrollment application will reflect 2019 rates and plan benefits. Both the rates and plan benefits will be updated on October 15. In the meantime, to view 2020 rates and benefits, utilize the "Compare and Shop" tool; to access this tool, select "New Business" followed by "View Plans & Details."
