2019 CMS National Training Program Workshops

workshopsThe 2019 CMS National Training Program workshops will take place in 5 cities this summer beginning in late July. You're invited to attend at the location and days of your choice to meet your schedule and learning needs. The workshops in Philadelphia, PA, San Francisco; CA and Chicago, IL will be 2½ days long. In Arlington, TX and Providence, RI, the workshops will be 3 full days. Agendas vary slightly in each city.

What we’ll cover:

Day 1 - Understanding Medicare Basics – A full day about the basics of Medicare including Eligibility and Enrollment, Costs, and Coverage in Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policies, and helpful programs. This enhanced interactive curriculum is for those who are still learning the basics and those who want a refresher.

Day 2 - Medicare – Beyond the Basics – A full day to learn about helpful resources, legislative and programmatic updates, the Medicare Plan Finder tool, how to help fight fraud and abuse, and to hear from other agencies (like Social Security).

Day 3 - Scenario-based learning (based on actual cases – A half-day (in Arlington and Providence a full day) interactive session to discuss and review topics such as Medicare and Health Savings Accounts, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, Medicare eligibility and Marketplace enrollment, and more.

SAVE THE DATE: Understanding Medicare (CEU) Webinars

June 18 & 19, 2019   1:00 – 3:00 pm ET

These interactive training webinars are stand-alone events covering “Module 1-Understanding Medicare.” Attendance on both days isn’t required and space is limited. The number of CEUs you can earn each day is 0.2 (2 hours). If you attend both days of training, you can earn 0.4 (4 hours) total CEUs. Topics for each day include:

Day 1—Explains Medicare enrollment and eligibility, the roles and responsibilities of the agencies responsible for Medicare, cost and coverage under Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance), why enrolling on time is important, an overview of Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policies, and the basics of Part D (Medicare prescription drug coverage).

Day 2—Explains Medicare Advantage Plans; coordination of benefits; how to detect and report suspected Medicare fraud, waste, and abuse; different resources to help you find answers to Medicare policy and coverage questions.
