Healthcare Happy Hour: Debriefing the Medicare-for-All Hearing

Congress held a first-ever hearing on Medicare for All in the House Rules Committee this week. NAHU strongly opposes single-payer proposals at all levels and submitted comments to the record to underscore our concerns. On this week’s episode, NAHU’s Marcy M. Buckner debriefs the hearing and how the main issues of cost, choice, coverage, quality and access to care were addressed by witnesses and members of Congress, and how we helped to shape those discussions at the hearing. Marcy also explains what to expect as the debate moves forward, with possibly more hearings in Congress and beyond. And we take a deep dive at state level efforts to implement single-payer programs, including Washington State as it mulls implementing a public option.
