Geisinger and Highmark, Inc. recently announced they are teaming up for a clinical joint venture that will focus on providing efficient, convenient access to advanced healthcare for Geisinger Health Plan members in northcentral Pennsylvania. To help achieve this goal and ensure future access and services for surrounding communities, new facilities will be developed in Muncy Township and Lock Haven.
How does this affect your clients’ coverage?
This partnership is a clinical partnership between Highmark and Geisinger’s clinical enterprise—this does not affect your clients’ insurance coverage, nor does it change how its close relationship with Geisinger’s clinical enterprise benefits members. We will continue to provide their coverage and nothing about their benefits, premiums or network will change.
What does this mean for your clients?
Two new care facilities will be built for members in the surrounding communities of Lycoming and Clinton counties:
A new, four-story, 114,000–square foot hospital and health plex in Muncy Township
For more routine care, the health plex will include a multi–specialty clinic with adult and pediatric primary care, orthopedics, cardiology, ophthalmology, pulmonary services and women’s health services.
For longer–term care, the Muncy Township facility will also house a state–of–the–art operating suite and 20 inpatient beds. Medical oncology services, chemotherapy preparation and general surgery services will also be available.
A new, two–story facility in Lock Haven, with a walk–in urgent care center, adult and pediatric primary care offices, imaging and lab services, physical and occupational therapy, as well as a specialty clinic with dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, surgery and women’s health services
All Geisinger facilities aligned with this partnership, including the two new facilities, will provide high–quality, value–based care and accept both Highmark and Geisinger Health Plan insurance.
