Current Census Template is Required
As reported in Connect with Capital (June 2018, volume 2), remember that the most current version of the Census template is required for all medically underwritten rate requests beginning with a December 2018 effective date.

A Group Application is no longer required when submitting these requests,so the top shaded section must be completed with the group level information. As an additional tip, change the “Data Entry Status” value from In Process to Complete, which will help identify formatting or other errors that you may have in the file. Do not alter the file by deleting tabs, etc.
The census template is used in quoting and enrolling new business in the Small Group PPACA, Mid-Market, and Small Business ASO segments. The census template provides a tool to assist producers when:
  1. Importing census data into Salesforce for prospect quoting. Save the template as file type .CSV to upload to Salesforce.
  2. Formatting a census for Medical Underwriting requests (aka preliminary rate requests).*
  3. Presenting employee waiver information for participation audits.*
  4. Providing enrollment data in the Excel to Facets required format.*

*Save as an Excel file (.xlsx)

With the universal use of this correctly completed Census Template, the turnaround time for Medically Underwritten Rate Requests will improve.

2019 Group Products Portfolio Now Available
We introduced our 2019 group products portfolio at recent producer training sessions. The portfolio focuses on maintaining a streamlined set of products that simplify the sales process.

There are a number of changes that will affect all new groups enrolling in a standard product in 2019, as well as all existing groups renewing into a standard product. It’s important that you know about them.

The 2019 Medical Product Grid with active links to the most current version of the highlight sheets is available here.

Small Group ASO Available to Groups with Five Subscribers
Big news for your smallest groups! Starting December 1, we will write ASO business for employers with as few as five enrolled subscribers! With more choice and flexibility, make sure to quote these cases. More details to come, so stay tuned.

Healthy Blue Rewards and Employer Incentive Program
Beginning in January, the Healthy Rewards program gets a new name: Healthy Blue Rewards. Our wellness incentive platform encourages members to take steps toward a healthier lifestyle and includes earlier intervention with personalized programs.

The Healthy Blue Rewards program is automatically included in Capital BlueCross’ standard medical products. Large groups with custom products have the option to include it.

The Healthy Blue Rewards Large Group Options Flyer (2019) outlines the options that are available to large groups.

Employer Incentive Program
Employer groups that achieve at least 50 percent employee engagement in biometric screenings under the Healthy Blue Rewards program can qualify for a premium credit. See 2019 guidelines for further details.
The Healthy Blue Rewards program runs on a calendar year (regardless of renewal date). Groups switching Healthy Blue Rewards segments mid-year will have no impact to their Healthy Blue Rewards program until January 1 of the following year.

BenefitWallet’s HSA Hub
BenefitWallet’s HSA Hub is now ready to share with groups and prospects!

For employers considering a QHDHP, and for those who are already enrolled, the HSA Hub is our new go-to resource for HSAs administered by BenefitWallet.
This site was developed exclusively for Capital BlueCross employers and producers. It includes:
  • About BenefitWallet—to help employers decide if BenefitWallet is a good fit
  • Account Opening Materials—to help them decide the best method to open individual employee HSAs
  • Contact BenefitWallet—to help them get in touch with a BenefitWallet contact for direct assistance, or to ask questions
  • Employer Materials—to help employers who have decided to use BenefitWallet and want to move forward
  • Member Materials—to help employers educate their employees, through collaterals that groups can download, as well as educational videos and online links that they can share

Important note: While member materials are made available to employers on the HSA Hub, this site is not designed for members. Producers should use this site with employers to help select specific materials that can be sent and shared with their employees (i.e., pdf).
BenefitWallet® is an independent company whose products and services are not BlueCross products and services. BenefitWallet is solely responsible for these products and services.

Effective January 2019: Dental Premium/Admin Fee Holiday for Groups That Add BlueCross Dental
When groups combine dental and medical coverage from the Capital BlueCross family of companies, we can provide a more coordinated approach to member care. This helps lower healthcare costs and improve member health outcomes.

To encourage this bundling, we will offer up to two months of a dental premium/admin fee holiday beginning with January 2019 effective dates.

Who can take advantage of this?
The holiday will be available to all fully insured and ASO commercial groups that are:
  • Current Capital BlueCross medical customers who add BlueCross Dental at renewal, or
  • New Capital BlueCross medical customers who include BlueCross Dental during enrollment
How will it work?
When groups qualify for the holiday, Capital BlueCross will apply a one-month credit to the dental premium/admin fee 75 to 90 days after the start of the contract. If the group renews its Capital BlueCross medical and dental plans in 2020, we will apply another one-month credit 75 to 90 days after their renewal.

Groups must be within tolerance (i.e., paid first month’s premium and half of the second month’s by the third month of coverage) to receive the holiday credit.

Details are included in large group renewals and proposals.

This month’s newsletter tells employer groups about opioid-related changes we’re making to our 2019 formularies, how we’re expanding our lab network and pain management alternatives, and so much more. It also gives them information they can share with employees, like a spotlight on breast cancer for Breast Cancer Awareness month, as well as a chance to win a $100 gift card when members sign up for a Virtual Care account!

Our quarterly newsletter encourages member empowerment. We share a lot of information this quarter, including the benefits of extended medical coverage options, signing up for Virtual Care, and taking care of our dental and mental health. We also broach the subject of opioids—how we are helping to fight the epidemic through changes in our 2019 formularies and how they can help too when talking to their doctors and dentists.
