Discontinuation of Medicare
Supplement Plans
|
Equitable Life & Casualty (Equitable) has long been committed to
providing consumers with products that supplement Medicare, from the
earliest plans following the enactment of Medicare to the current standard
plans established by the NAIC in 2010. In keeping with this commitment,
Equitable's subsidiary, Equitable National Life Insurance Company
(Equitable National), began offering new Medicare Supplement plans in 2017
and will continue to roll out new states in 2018
Due to the competitive nature of Medicare Supplement insurance premiums,
and with the introduction of Equitable National's plans, it is time to
discontinue Equitable's Medicare Supplement plans.
This discontinuation applies to all Equitable Medicare Supplement plans –
Plans A, F, G (where available) and N, and will be effective Monday,
June 25, 2018. Equitable will continue to accept
applications for these plans through Friday, June 22, 2018. Paper
applications must be postmarked no later than June 22, 2018.
It is very important to note that this action affects new sales only; no
in-force policies will be cancelled or non-renewed due to the
discontinuation of these plans. Current policyowners may keep their
policies for as long as they wish by continuing their payment of plan
premiums.
Additionally, this action in no way affects Equitable National's plan
offering. We encourage you to continue to present Equitable National's
Medicare Supplement plans to your clients.
Finally, we continue our commitment of giving you and our policyowners only
the very best in the superior, friendly, personalized service that you have
all come to expect and rely upon.
