It's Time to Hear From Our Members
We love feedback from members—it encourages growth, supports a stronger partnership, and makes us better equipped to meet their needs. That's why we're excited to roll out this year's Customer Satisfaction Survey.
Here's what's coming up:
  • We're going to hold four different survey periods between now and November
  • Members will receive a mailed invitation to participate in a survey
  • The invitation will give them options to complete the survey (receive a phone call, place a call at their convenience, or complete it online) 
  • All survey responses will be kept confidential and will not include member information
Feel free to let your clients know their employees may be invited to participate. We encourage and look forward to the feedback as we continue to serve our members with excellence.
 
High-Quality, Affordable Care from Blue Distinction Specialty Care Centers
Our members deserve peace of mind when choosing where to get their medical treatment, especially for specialty care. That’s why Capital BlueCross and the BlueCross BlueShield Association are making it easier for members to find quality care that’s right for them with Blue Distinction Specialty Care.
 
This designation program recognizes doctors and hospitals for delivering exceptional and cost-efficient care for members in the following areas:
  • Bariatric surgery
  • Cancer*
  • Cardiac care
  • Knee and hip replacement
  • Maternity
  • Spinal surgery
  • Transplants
To find a Blue Distinction Center (providers recognized for their expertise in delivering specialty care) or Blue Distinction Center+ (providers recognized for their expertise and efficiency in delivering specialty care), members may call the Customer Service number on their member ID card, or use the provider finder when they log in to their secure member account at capbluecross.com.

Blue Distinction® Centers met overall quality measures for patient safety and outcomes, developed with input from the medical community. Blue Distinction® Centers+ also met cost measures that address consumers’ need for affordable healthcare. Individual outcomes may vary. National criteria is displayed on bcbs.com. Capital BlueCross may require additional criteria for facilities located in its own service area. To find out which services and providers (including hospital based physicians) are covered under your policy, or to learn about Local Blue Plan Criteria, contact Capital BlueCross; and contact your provider before making an appointment to verify its current Network and Blue Distinction Centers status. Each hospital’s Cost Index is calculated separately, based on data from Capital BlueCross. Hospitals in portions of CA, ID, NY, PA, and WA may lie in areas served by two Local Blue Plans, resulting in two Cost Index figures; and Capital BlueCross decides whether all hospitals in these areas must meet Blue Distinction Centers+ national criteria for one or both Cost Index figures. New and Improved Health Assessment is Here
When employees take care of their health and wellness, it pays! We're happy to offer a tool that can guide them. Now part of the Healthy Rewards portal, our new health assessment is ready for use.

The new assessment is user-friendly and asks dynamic questions as it guides members through a 10- to 15-minute form that helps evaluate their health status. The result? A personal report that includes health indicators and a physician summary members can share with their doctor!
The health assessment is available to members with medical coverage from the Capital BlueCross family of companies (Medicare Advantage, FEP, or CHIP are excluded), including spouses and children ages 18 and over.

Here's an added bonus for large employers (100+ employees): these groups can let employees who are not covered by the group health plan take the assessment as long as the employer signs up for Healthy Rewards. (Certain grandfathered groups without Healthy Rewards that had access to the Personal Profile will retain access to the health assessment in 2018.) 

Need something on paper? Large groups can contact their account executive for printed versions, which includes a separate processing fee per assessment.
 
Members Can Win a Trip to Disney World!
Tick, tick, tick. Today's the deadline for members to submit their Faces of Fearless story for a chance to win a trip for four to Disney World. We emailed members about the contest last week, but feel free to send out one last call to let our superheroes know about how they can share their tale of fearlessness in taking on a big health challenge. Check out the official rules.

Hearing Aid Discounts and Free Hearing Exams
EPIC Hearing Healthcare offers more value to members of the Capital BlueCross family of companies by offering free hearing exams and discounts on name-brand hearing aids and related professional services.

Please share Hear Better • Live Well with your group leaders at open enrollment meetings or health fairs to spread the word about these unique incentives. Information about EPIC's services is also included in BlueCross Dental and BlueCross Vision materials and is featured in these plans' proposal and renewal documents.
To access EPIC Hearing's unique discounted products and services, members can call 855.536.5151 and provide access code CBC2018.

When they call, a hearing counselor will answer all questions and coordinate care through a participating provider. If the provider recommends hearing aids, EPIC Hearing offers them at reduced rates—as much as 60 percent below retail prices! And, as part of its agreement with Capital BlueCross, EPIC will provide a trial period, a warranty, and up to a two-year supply of batteries on some hearing aids.
