Washington Update Podcast: Mending Differences on the Road to Tax Reform
NAHU Vice Presidents of Congressional Affairs John Greene and Chris Hartmann join the podcast this week to discuss the latest developments in the tax reform bill moving through Congress. Shortly after the Senate passed their version in the early hours this past Saturday, House and Senate members began the conference process to work out the details, including how to handle the elimination of the ACA’s individual mandate penalties and the medical expense deduction. John and Chris delve into the key points of contention in these negotiations as well as the other items moving through Congress, including the end-of-year spending bill that may delay several ACA taxes, as well as the newly introduced bill to exclude broker commissions from the medical loss ratio.
