Enrolling an on-exchange member in an
off-exchange plan
If you have an on-exchange member who no longer qualifies for a tax credit and wants to enroll off-exchange for 2018:
- In Producer OnLine, create a new lead using the subscribing member’s information and shop for an off-exchange plan in Marketplace.
- If the member wants to purchase an off-exchange plan, complete the off-exchange enrollment process, including payment.
- Contact HealthCare.gov to terminate the member’s on-exchange plan.
This deliberate termination step is important because it will prevent the member’s on-exchange plan from being canceled due to non-payment of premium.
