INDIVIDUAL MARKET UPDATE: 2018 INDIVIDUAL SALES PREPARATION
In 2018, the Highmark Individual Market will be using a Training and Certification Platform powered by Litmos where participation in training programs and individual Federally-Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) and Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) certifications will be tracked. Litmos was launched by Highmark Senior Markets in 2017 and is being used for 2018 Medicare certification and training.
In addition to FFM Certification, Highmark Individual Market requires you to complete an attestation regarding Open Enrollment prior to selling any 2018 Highmark Individual plans. This attestation will be assigned to you as a course titled 2018 U65 Attestation.
Getting Started
Once a course is assigned to you, you will receive an email containing a link to the Highmark Training and Certification Platform (Litmos) login screen or set-up screen, depending upon one of the scenarios below:-
If you are a prior user of the Highmark Training and Certification Program (Litmos): When you click the link in the email, you will be prompted to login. You will use the same Username and Password as you did for Medicare training.
- If you have never used the Highmark Training and Certification Platform (Litmos): When you click the link in the email, you will be prompted to set up your account. Your Username will be your NPN.
- If you don’t get an email and you want to access training:
If we do not have your correct email address or no email address, you will need to email us at U65TrainingCertification@highmark.com to have an account created for you.
Finding the 2018 Courses
Once logged in, go to Course Library and select the course you want to take. Once you have completed a program, choose Achievements from the menu to see completed courses, including your 2018 FFM Certification and 2018 SHOP Certification, if they have been recorded (please allow 2-3 business days from completion of training on portal.cms.gov to post).
Optional but important training, which will be posted before the end of October, include:
- Highmark Individual Product Training by region
- Highmark Individual Sales Process
Make sure to update your contact information in your profile by clicking the icon in the upper right corner of the screen and selecting My Profile & Settings. Select Edit Profile, make the necessary changes and click Save.
2018 SHOP Certification
In order to sell plans on SHOP, there is no additional training needed other than your SHOP Certification through CMS.
2018 Individual Marketplace Training
You must complete plan year 2018 registration and training on the CMS Enterprise Portal prior to helping consumers enroll in Marketplace coverage.
Additionally, Highmark requires this training to sell individual ACA products on- or off-exchange and to be eligible for compensation for any new or renewal business for 2018. Producers who are not certified will not generate eligible revenue/commissions payable to your general agency.
