2018 small group Affordable Care Act (ACA) product update

Starting with January 1, 2018 effective dates, we will offer one ACA benefit option on three networks in Pennsylvania. Small group new business and renewals seeking an ACA option for 2018 can purchase our Silver plan. In addition, we are in the process of reducing service areas for small group ACA customers in Western PA. By January 2018, we will not offer any ACA small group plans in the following Pennsylvania counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Butler, Crawford, Erie, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Warren, Washington and Westmoreland counties. You can still access self-service for ACA quotes via Producer World®.

With 5 months to go until 2018, we are still working hard to finalize and publish our benefit offerings. However, we wanted to inform you of the change to our ACA portfolio as soon as possible. Once plan designs are available, we will post them on Producer World®.

Small group customers in PA who have opted to "Keep What You Have" (KWYH) are not impacted by our service area reduction. We have extended KWYH through 12/31/18 for most products. In addition to their KWYH renewal, we will send an Aetna Funding Advantage (AFA) offer to all 5-50 KWYH customers.

Our AFA plans provide cost control, flexibility and simplicity to small businesses with 5 to 50 employees. These self-funded plans include completely digital enrollment and plan administration with employee wellness activated by Apple Watch®. We will offer AFA plans to eligible customers and our AFA Small Group Underwriting Unit will handle quoting for all groups with less than 51 employees.
