UnitedHealthcare Proactive Background Review Pilot

UnitedHealthcare Agent On-Boarding is excited to announce a pilot program related to periodic background reviews. Our research indicates approximately 50% of agents who appeal a failed background review pass; we want to remove this hassle for agents.

Why is Agent On-Boarding conducting this pilot? To reduce hassle, personalize service, and expedite the periodic background review process.

What is the program? A proactive outreach to agents who may fail their 2017 periodic background review.

How does it work? In situations where an agent may fail a periodic background review, Agent On-Boarding will proactively open a Tier 1 appeal on the agent's behalf. An email will be sent to the agent indicating that an appeal has been opened.  An additional communication will be sent to request documentation necessary to help pass the review.  Agents must respond to the request within ten days to complete the review process and ensure no disruption to their ability to sell. If the ten day deadline is missed, or the agent simply does not want to participate in the pilot program, the background review process will process as usual which may result in a failed review outcome.

Agents who take advantage of this pilot program but do not pass the review are still entitled to the standard two-tiered appeal process. Refer to the Agent Guide for details.

Will non-participation affect an Agent's ability to appeal a failed background decision? No. Agents may utilize the two-tiered appeal process currently available.
