Rand Paul teases ObamaCare replacement bill

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) indicated Saturday night that he would unveil a bill to replace ObamaCare in the coming week.

Paul, who has been an advocate of replacing ObamaCare at the same time of its repeal, tweeted a photo of a bill titled the “Obamacare Replacement Act.”

“Coming this week: THE Obamacare replacement bill. Done drafting the bill & will be discussing on CNN Sunday AM and all week next week!” Paul tweeted.

{mosads}The photo depicts the first page of a bill and comes after Paul pledged on Monday to roll out an ObamaCare replacement bill this week. Paul indicated he would reveal more details soon.

Repealing and replacing ObamaCare has been a top priority of the new Congress, with Republicans now holding majorities in both the House and Senate as well as taking control of the White House.

The House on Friday took the first step toward repealing ObamaCare with a vote largely along party lines to approve a budget resolution serving as the vehicle to wind down the law.

Paul was the lone GOP senator to vote against the budget resolution Thursday because it didn’t balance.

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has said Republicans will work on a strategy to replace President Obama’s signature law at a joint House-Senate GOP retreat the week after President-elect Donald Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration.

Trump has pushed for the law to be replaced quickly, echoing Paul’s sentiments of providing a replacement when it is repealed.
