Confirmation of Enrollment Letters for Individual & Family Policies

UPMC Health Plan has begun to generate Confirmation of Enrollment (COE) letters to individual and family members for 2017. These letters are being mailed to both new and renewing on- and off-exchange policyholders and describes their plan information for the 2017 policy year. Unfortunately, we have had some confusion surrounding these letters with our off-exchange population.

Timing of the Letters:
  • Off-exchange renewing members started to receive letters at the end of last week. The information on these letters is current as of November 16. Any plan or demographic changes affecting the premium that were made on or after that date are reflected in our system, and members will be receiving an updated letter and member ID card in the mail shortly. This means any member that made a change after November 16 likely received a letter with their old plan info.
  • Due to CMS regulations, on-exchange renewing members will receive their letter after December 16.
Important information regarding payments:
  • For renewing members to continue coverage into 2017, they need simply to continue making their monthly premium payment.
  • If members are enrolled in autopay, the new premium amount will be deducted from their account on the scheduled date. They do not need to make a separate payment.
  • If a member makes a plan change after billing runs, they will be charged the old amount on their invoice. That amount will also be pulled on the autopay date. They will then be credited or billed for the balance on their next bill.
  • Autopay contracts do not automatically transfer accounts if a member switches from on to off exchange or from off to on exchange. They will need to set up a new autopay contract for the new policy and should cancel the old one.

How to setup Autopay
  • When logged into the producer portal navigate to the resource center tab. Under forms, you will find the Autopay Form.
  • Fill out with the appropriate member information and payment information and submit by:
    • Fax: 412-454-5625
    • Mail: UPMC Health Plan Premium Billing Department, 600 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
