LEHIGH VALLEY FLEX BLUE

New Benefit Design Effective January 1, 2017 

Highmark and Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) are launching a new health insurance benefit design - Lehigh Valley Flex Blue - that will allow these two organizations to better manage the care members and patients receive to improve outcomes and lower future health care costs.

Lehigh Valley Flex Blue will be available to employers and individuals located in Lehigh, Northampton and Schuylkill counties.

About Lehigh Valley Flex Blue

Lehigh Valley Flex Blue is designed for employers that are concerned with the cost of providing health insurance coverage to their employees, and ensuring that employees have access to local hospitals and doctors that are consistently recognized for quality care. It is also designed for individuals who are looking for a cost-effective plan that gives them access to top-quality care, along with options to save on out-of-pocket costs.

There are two levels of in-network benefit coverage and member out-of-pocket costs. At both benefit levels members can select - at any time - from a large network of high-quality providers they know and trust.

At the Enhanced Value benefit level, coverage is generally highest and member out-of-pocket costs are lowest when members:

• Visit doctors or facilities (including urgent care centers) affiliated with the LVHN, Sacred Heart Hospital and Pocono Medical Center 
• Receive care at any in-network provider for mental health and substance abuse care
• Receive emergency care at any provider

At the Standard Value benefit level, coverage is generally lower and member out-of-pocket costs are higher when members visit any other in-network facility or doctor for any services other than those listed above. This includes 96 percent of hospitals and 92 percent of doctors in the United States.
