We're changing small group service areas in western Pennsylvania and West Virginia
We had to make some tough decisions so we can continue to offer affordable access to quality care for most of our members.
As a result, we're reducing service areas in 2017. The changes will impact select counties in western PA and WV. They're for small group (1-50) only. They won't affect large group cases with more than 51 employees, and small group cases with keep-what-you-have (or "grand-mothered") plans.
We've outlined below the changes for western PA and WV Aetna and Coventry business. The number and variety of plans for areas outside of these counties will stay the same. Groups and employees in the affected counties won't be mapped to an Aetna Affordable Care Act (ACA) plan. They'll get a CMS 90-day discontinuance letter.
Pennsylvania
- Discontinuance of small group ACA plans in 16 western PA counties effective 1/1/17: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Butler, Crawford, Erie, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Warren, Washington and Westmoreland
West Virginia
- Discontinuance of small group ACA plans in 10 WV counties effective 2/1/17: Brooke, Hancock, Harrison, Kanawha, Marion, Marshall, Monongalia, Ohio, Raleigh and Wood
Solutions for your clients
We'll offer qualified groups in the counties with plan discontinuances an Aetna Funding Advantage (AFA) proposal. AFA can provide your clients with cost savings compared to ACA community rates. AFA plans have flexible benefit designs with access to 26 national plans on the Aetna Choice II provider network.
